The Third Grade Class has three main goals:
The students are taught lessons from the the Bible. They are taught the names of all twenty-seven books in the New Testament. Each time the learn all the books in a category, they will put a gem on the category spot on their progress sheet. You can view the New Testament book categories here. Each week they learn a new memory verse from the Bible. They also compete in Bible search games, where they attempt to find verses in the Bible as fast as they can. You can view the bible verse plan here.
Third graders learn about worship service traditions and how they are expected to act in church. They also learn about tithing.
The teachers set an example for the students so that they can learn how to act in church. They also learn how to act properly towards each other, and learn moral lessons from the Bible by understanding the actual meanings of their memory verses. In addition, the kids are encouraged to be confident Christians.
The third graders are led in a time of singing, taking the offering and the verse for the coming week. Near the end of class, they divide into two groups and meet with individual teachers to learn more about Jesus.
One of the ways of making learning fun is to earn coupons, which twice a year can be used for buying various items that have been donated by David and Kirsten Wilder. A coupon can be earned by:
