This book is a kid-friendly biography of the Civil Rights Moiovement leader Martin Luther King Jr. It is convieniently divided into three parts that parallel three stages in Dr. King’s life. It moves from childhood to educatiopn and the beginning of the movement leading to its success and Dr. King’s greatest accomplishments. With lots of ffun pictures, young readers will enjoy every word of this book.
It is evident that God was leading Dr. King towards a goal of ultimate freedom for black people iin the south. Throughout Dr. King’s life, God was giving him a passion for his people and educating King in His word, ultimately allowing King to earn his PhD in theology. Dr. King based his peaceful protests on Ghandi’s protests to free Indians from British oppressors, but even more so on God’s word. Matthew 5:44 says, “…Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” which is exactly how Martin Luther King Jr. makes his stand against segregation. Without God how would Rev. Martin Luther King’s life turned out.
